SafeTag is operated by SafeTag Verify Limited (RC 9842561, Lagos, Nigeria), which is the data controller for the information described here under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Account details (name, email, phone), the business, brand, location and bank account information you choose to publish on your SafeTag page, and basic analytics (page views, device type, IP) needed to prevent abuse.
To verify business identity, display your verified bank account(s) to your customers, send essential service emails, process subscriptions, and stop bad actors from abusing the platform.
Customer fraud reports, impersonation reports and feedback are submitted without an account and we do not ask reporters to identify themselves. Sensitive values such as account numbers and phone numbers are stored hashed or encrypted, never in plain text. Reports are reviewed by our team before anything appears publicly, and we publish warnings about patterns, not about the person who reported.
A report about a specific business may include up to three screenshots. Images are stripped of location, camera and other embedded metadata and rebuilt before storage. They are kept in private storage, are never publicly accessible, and can only be opened by the business the report is about and SafeTag reviewers, through links that expire within minutes. A business can flag an image as abusive, which hides it immediately for our review. All report screenshots are deleted automatically after 90 days.
To prove you control an account we ask for a small transfer (₦200) carrying a unique code. We record the account name returned by the bank, whether it matched, and the outcome of the check. The amount is credited to your next subscription.
Only the fields you mark public appear on your SafeTag page. We never sell personal data. We share limited data with our payment processor (Paystack) and email delivery infrastructure strictly to run the service.
A limited internal team at SafeTag Verify Limited (support and review roles) can access account records where necessary to verify a business, review a report, or answer a support request. Those actions are recorded in an internal activity log, and decisions can be reviewed and reversed by a senior administrator.
You can edit or delete your business, unsubscribe from emails, export your data, or close your account at any time. Email support@safetag.ng.
Data is stored on managed infrastructure with row-level access controls, encrypted in transit, and access is limited to the accounts that own each record.
